The Colorful Story of Audrey, Jake, and Toasted Joe's

Audrey Ureda grew up in the small, picturesque Alaskan town of Valdez. Surrounded by stunning mountains, Valdez is a deep sea port and the terminus of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System that carries crude oil 800 miles across the state. She worked many different jobs growing up but always found her passion leading her to coffee. When Audrey met Jake in late 2019, they quickly became inseparable. Her pup Stella was a driving force, because her cuteness is otherworldly. Audrey was working at the Kaladi Brother's Coffee on Jewel Lake in Anchorage, Alaska. After a year in the budding industry, Jake was just beginning his Cannabis Consulting business called Star420. Over the next year, 2020, Audrey took Jake to visit her hometown of Valdez and Jake took Audrey to experience all that Utah (his homeland) has to offer! They fell in love. A love deeper than either had experienced. Enough love to adopt a pup of their own, Leonard on May 7th from our friends Rich and Katie. Life was at full speed. They climbed many mountains together that year and even found a house to finish building 83 miles north of Anchorage in Willow! The outside of it was pretty much complete, but the inside was totally unfinished. From November, 2020 to February 15, 2021, they commuted back and forth from Anchorage, sleeping a few nights on an air mattress in a back office to get the house "livable." This consisted of plumbing and an in-floor heating system and it was completed just in time! They set up their tent with rain cover inside the house to keep the drywall dust off the blankets and air mattress. Cooking almost all meals on an electric skillet on top of a plywood + sawhorse table. The bathroom was tiled next and a large deep soak tub installed! Slowly but surely they built their dream home, painting each room a different, unique color - showing off Audrey's radiant personality. The centerpiece is the 8x4 island, Audrey's dream kitchen was complete!

After working in the coffee business for over ten years, Audrey had a goal to one day own her own coffee hut. With the help of family and friends, Toasted Joe's became a reality!
